We are looking to establish a pool of suitable skilled applicants with environmental approvals experience to fill immediate and future vacancies for Environmental Officers at Specified Callings Levels 1 and 2, and Senior Environmental Officers at Specified Calling Level 3.
We are currently on the lookout for individuals with various skill sets and experience in the assessment and review of flora, vegetation and fauna studies, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and a strong commitment to environmental solutions and outcomes.

This is a Talent Pool for Environmental Officers and Senior Environmental Officers – Specified Calling Level 1 to 3 for Native Vegetation Regulation.
The Talent Pool will operate for twelve (12) months with a possibility of extension.

Environmental Officer – Specified Calling Level 1:
The Environmental Officer, with the support of senior officers, is primarily responsible for efficiently validating and assessing native vegetation clearing permit applications and referrals and proposing effective, enforceable decisions to Delegated Officers within target timeframes. The position is also responsible for assisting in the resolution of contentious issues that arise from native vegetation clearing permits and referrals in a timely manner and assisting with projects that support business process improvements and reform related to native vegetation regulation and other Departmental priorities.
Environmental Officer – Specified Calling Level 2:
The Environmental Officer is primarily responsible for efficiently assessing complex native vegetation clearing permit applications and proposing decisions to the Delegated Officer which are effective and enforceable, within target timeframes. The position is also responsible for resolving contentious issues that arise from native vegetation clearing permits in a timely manner and assisting with projects that support business process improvements and reform related to native vegetation regulation and other Departmental priorities.
Senior Environmental Officer – Specified Calling Level 3:
This position is primarily responsible for efficiently assessing complex native vegetation clearing permit applications and proposing decisions to the Delegated Officer which are effective and enforceable, within target timeframes. The position is also responsible for resolving contentious issues which may arise from native vegetation clearing permits and applications in a timely manner, and the training and mentoring of staff. This role may also involve some limited decision making in relation to standard and low risk processes.

This pool will operate for a period of twelve (12) months with vacancies being offered at part or full time on a permanent or fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension or permanency. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
