The Opportunity:

This is a fixed term opportunity from January 2027 until June 2029!

If you're experienced in program delivery and enjoy working at the intersection of grants, governance and stakeholder engagement, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to environmental outcomes across Western Australia. As the Senior Officer - Grants and Agreements, you will coordinate the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of grant programs and funding agreements that support the Department's strategic objectives. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will provide high-quality advice on grants, projects and policy matters, monitor program performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of program delivery, governance and reporting processes.

To be successful, you will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify emerging issues and develop practical, evidence-based solutions. You will have demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects, grants or funding agreements from planning through to evaluation and reporting, as well as the ability to apply legislation, policy and governance requirements to support effective decision-making. Equally important are your communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to provide clear advice and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry and community organisations. Candidates with relevant qualifications and/or experience in environmental, natural resource or public sector program management will be highly regarded.

At the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, we are committed to fostering a modern workplace that supports flexibility, collaboration, and wellbeing.

Our flexible work arrangements include options for alternative work locations and adaptable schedules, designed to accommodate a variety of professional and personal needs.

We recognise that effective work can happen in different settings, and our approach reflects this, enabling staff to contribute meaningfully while maintaining balance and resilience.

We are committed to creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels supported and valued. We recognise the unique skills, perspectives and experiences that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, women and young people bring to our workforce, and we encourage applications from these groups.

We welcome applications from people with disabilities and are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process. If you require any adjustments to participate in the recruitment process, please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Join us and be part of a department that values innovation, inclusivity, and the evolving nature of work.
