Are you an experienced finance professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the public sector?

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) is seeking a highly capable Senior Management Accountant to join our Financial Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic financial management, budgeting, performance reporting, and government budget processes that support the delivery of critical services for Western Australians.

Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide expert financial advice, deliver high-quality analysis and reporting, and contribute to informed decision-making across the Department.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Financial Planning, you will play a key role in supporting the Department's management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting functions.

About You

You are a proactive and analytical finance professional with strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful insights.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual skills, including experience extracting, analysing and reporting data from financial management systems.
  • Significant experience delivering management accounting, budgeting and financial planning services that support organisational performance and decision-making.

Desirable

  • Membership of, or progress towards, a recognised professional accounting body such as CA ANZ, CPA Australia or IPA.
  • Experience within the Western Australian public sector, including knowledge of the Financial Management Act 2006 and Treasurer's Instructions.
  • Experience using TechnologyOne Financial Systems.
