The Opportunity:

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) is establishing a talent pool of experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) professionals to help deliver a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.
As an HR Consultant – WHS, you will play a key role in coordinating and supporting the development and implementation of our integrated health and safety management system. This includes providing expert advice on WHS legislation, policies, and practices, and partnering with leaders and stakeholders to embed effective safety strategies across the organisation.
Your work will focus on driving improvements in WHS systems, training, and compliance; supporting workplace inspections, audits, and hazard management; developing tools, templates, and resources to strengthen WHS capability; and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to foster a proactive safety culture.
In this role, you will be Leading Others by:
- Setting clear direction for WHS initiatives and aligning team efforts with organisational goals.
- Building capability through coaching and supporting others in WHS best practice.
- Fostering collaboration and creating an environment where safety improvements are embraced.

This pool will operate for a period of 6 months with vacancies being offered at part or full time on a permanent or fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension or permanency. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
This process may be used to fill similar vacancies that may arise within DWER and across the WA public sector over the next six (6) months. Vacancies may be full-time or part-time, permanent or fixed term with possibility of extension or permanency in a variety of metropolitan and regional locations.
